Steven Van Alstine is the Vice-President, Professional Standards and Education at the National Payroll Institute and is considered one of Canada's foremost subject matter experts in Canadian payroll legislation, education and professional development.
Currently, Steven oversees the Institute’s Professional Accreditation and Standards and Learning and Professional Development teams, as well leads Payroll Standards Canada and it’s Advisory Council. In his over 28 years with the Institute he has lead teams and initiatives that have resulted in highly respected professional development and innovative payroll designation learning through state-of-the-art learning management platforms and in-person, virtual and online program delivery.
His past contributions have included leading the Institute’s advocacy and government relations initiatives and committees, supporting research leading to the redevelopment and ongoing augmentations to the payroll designation programs and participating in governance development and enhancements for the payroll profession.
Steven received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and History from Wilfrid Laurier University, holds the Institute’s PLP Designation, and the CAE certification from the Canadian Society of Association Executives.
